Where to begin!!! Within the past month or so, we've come so far to seeing the IRS recognize us as a nonprofit! We've managed to filed Articles of Incorporation, registration documents with the California Registry of Charitable Trusts, receive an EIN from the IRS, file our paperwork for our nonprofit status (501(c)(3)), applied for a business license in the city of Santee, formed an Executive Board, developed and passed bylaws, implemented plenty of policies ranging from confidentiality all the way to privacy, and so much more!
As was mentioned, our new Executive Board is comprised of a Director of Finance: Jesse Archer, Director of Research: Dr. Kristen Emory, Secretary: Kyle Krick, and President & CEO: Chase Whittaker. We are currently looking for Director of Marketing and Director of Program Operations. If you're interested, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We've also setup an online store where you can purchase a variety of t-shirts! A portion of the proceeds of those t-shirts will come back to us so every purchase counts! We are looking into adding an option to "Donate" bags, blankets, shirts, and other necessary supplies to the homeless and impoverished in San Diego by purchasing them from our website. This will take a little bit to work out but we're excited about the potential.
BIG NEWS!!! We're ALSO looking at expanding our volunteer opportunities to destinations a little closer to home! Near SDSU, there is a San Diego-based nonprofit that operates out of an elementary school after class that offers free tutoring services to refugee children living in the area. This is almost certainly going to be one of our big opportunities for early 2018. Not only that, but we're also considering partnering with a San Diego State University Student Organization to bring blankets and clothing to the children of northern Mexico for the cold months ahead.
